The chocolate ball is a classic Swedish sweet treat that you will find in most cafés, perfect for a coffee break, or “FIKA” as we call it Sweden, or as a delicious party canapé.
Infused with coffee, rolled in desiccated coconut, and served chilled, they are easy and fun to make and only takes 10 minutes to prepare. This tasty chocolate ball is made with a mixture of cocoa, salted butter, oats, vanilla, and coffee.

Makes: 14    Prep time: 10 min    Fridge: 20-30 min

INGREDIENTS

Makes: 14
Prep 10 min
Refrigerate 20-30 min

100 g slightly salted butter
100 ml casting sugar
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cold coffee
300 ml oats (110 g)
1 ½ dl desiccated coconut

Tips: The secret here is the salted butter, good quality cocoa, and strong coffee, preferably espresso. And most importantly, they need to be fridge cold. If you do not have salted butter, add a pinch of salt flakes.

METHOD

Mix all the ingredients and use your hands to shape 3-4 cm balls. Roll them in the desiccated coconut and refrigerate for a minimum of 20-30 min before serving. Perfect with coffee or as a sweet party canapé.

Did you know that we celebrate the day of the chocolate ball in Sweden on the 12th of May every year?
